Romania February 2025: Dacia Duster takes charge, Bigster lands
The Dacia Bigster has landed in its home charts.
The Romanian new car market is up 4.5% year-on-year in February to 11,850 units, but due to a disappointing January result, the year-to-date tally remains in negative at -1.3% to 23,770. Local hero Dacia (+6.5%) is solid but drops to 29.8% share vs. 33.6% last month. The next five carmakers all beat the market. Volkswagen (+37.1%) is the most dynamic followed by Ford (+33.4%), Renault (+32.9%), Toyota (+19.8%) and Skoda (+8.8%). Hyundai (-18.5%) is in trouble at #7 but Suzuki (+19%) and Mercedes (+9.7%) both soar. Further down, MG (+175.3%), Jeep (+83.3%) and Alfa Romeo (+80%) stand out.
Model-wise, the Dacia Duster (-10.1%) takes charge with 9.4% share, overtaking the Logan (+10.1%) both for the month and year-to-date for just 14 sales. The Sandero (+77.8%) surges ahead to maintain itself in third positive above the Skoda Octavia (+19.4%). The Dacia Spring (-23.7%) drops to #5 but still ranks #4 year-to-date. The next four models all vastly outpace the overall growth rate, with the Renault Clio up a surreal 259.8% to #8, the Ford Kuga up 82.1% to #6, the Toyota Corolla up 62% to #9 and the Toyota RAV4 up 45.9% to #7. The Dacia Jogger (+7.9%) is down to #10 but ranks #6 year-to-date. The Dacia Bigster launches at #86.
