New Caledonia (France) January-February 2025: Ford Ranger soars to #1 in market off -53.5%

The Ford Ranger is the best-selling vehicle in New Caledonia so far in 2025.

Due to continuing social unrest, the New Caledonian new light vehicle market implodes -53.5% year-on-year over the first two months of 2025 to just 475 units. Toyota (-71.8%) dominates the brands charts again albeit with a much weaker market share at 11.2% vs. 20.6% over the Full Year 2024. Citroen (-22.2%) resists well and climbs to 2nd place with 8.8% share, equal with Hyundai (-50%) also beating the market but just slightly so. Renault (-52.3%) and Suzuki (-63%) follow and round out the Top 5. Ford (-40.7%) and Peugeot (-43.1%) manage to keep their fall below the market rate just as Mitsubishi (+21.1%) signs the only year-on-year gain in the Top 10. Changan (+15.4%) and BAIC (+1400%) also improve below as does BYD (+12.5%).

Over in the models ranking, the Ford Ranger (+41.2%) surges ahead to the pole position with 5.1% share vs. #5 and 2.4% over the Full Year 2024. The Suzuki Jimny only edges down -4.2% and climbs to 2nd place overall, distancing the Dacia Duster (-51.4%) and Hyundai Tucson (-32%). The BAIC X35 (+1400%) surges to #5 vs. #35 over FY2024 while the Citroen C3 (-12.5%) is up to #6. Leader in 2024 for the fourth time in a row, the Toyota Hilux (-87.2%) collapses to #8. The Mitsubishi ASX (+44.4%) surges to #9 vs. #39 over FY2024.
