Denmark February 2025: Cupra up to record #3 and 7.3% share

Cupra smashes all its records in February.

Danish new car sales edge up 3.5% year-on-year in February to 11,616 units. Thanks to a splendid month of January, YTD figures are up 11.9% to 22,449. Volkswagen (+194.6%) triples its sales year-on-year to surge to 19.8% share, by far the most popular carmaker in the country. Toyota (+8.8%) repeats at #2 but the surprise of the month is below: Cupra (+703.8%) surges to a world record third place with an outstanding 7.3% share. It now ranks #4 year-to-date vs. #15 over the Full Year 2024. In comparison sister brand Seat can only muster 1.2% share at #19. Mercedes (+33.4%) is up one spot on last month to #4 while Audi (-1.3%) recedes and rounds out the Top 5. Hyundai (+81.5%), BMW (+33.7%), Skoda (+29.6%) and Kia (+21.1%) are also very strong in the remainder of the Top 10. In contrast, Tesla falls -52.5% to #10.

Volkswagen manages a fantastic 1-2 with the ID.4 (+441.3%) in the top spot both this month and YTD ahead of the ID.3 (+455.7%). The Skoda Enyaq (+74.9%) is up one spot on January to #3 while the Toyota bZ4X (+273.2%), leader last month, falls to #4 but ranks #2 YTD. The Tesla Model Y sinks -53.1% to #5. The Cupra Tavascan is the most popular recent launch at #6, followed by the Kia EV3 at #11, the Cupra Terramar at #13 and the Audi Q6 e-tron at #21. Note the Top 11 models are all BEVs.
