Cyprus February 2025: Kia Sportage, Hyundai Kona dominate weak market

The Hyundai Kona is up to #2 in Cyprus in February.

Based on data by our local partners SEMO Cyprus and INNOSOFT, the Cyprus new car market struggles in February at just 1,284 units, off -14.5% year-on-year. Keep in mind however that February 2024 was up 48.5% over the year prior. Kia (-3.7%) dominates the market head and shoulders with 22.5% share vs. 19% so far this year and this despite a year-on-year loss. Hyundai (+247.8%) shoots up five spots on last month to #2 with 12.5% share, its highest since last July. Nissan (-68%) implodes on extraordinary year-ago results when it held a record 20.6% share, but still manages to improve on last month at 7.7% of the market vs. 6.6% in January. Toyota (-47.9%) is also in freefall at #4 while BMW (+47.2%) brilliantly rounds out the Top 5 but is down three ranks on January to #5. Ford (+122.6%), Renault (+77.8%), Jeep (+33.3%) and Mercedes (+26.8%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10.

Model-wise, the Kia Sportage (+243.8%) and Hyundai Kona (+473.3%) both post surreal year-on-year gains to top the charts with 8.6% and 6.7% share respectively. The Kia Stonic (-65.9%) craters at #3 ahead of the Mini Countryman (+131.8%), Hyundai Tucson (+860%) and Jeep Avenger (+78.3%) all in fantastic form. The Kia Ceed (#9) returns to the Top 20 while the Kia EV3 (#19) makes its first appearance in it.
