Argentina January 2025: Market up 103%
The Peugeot 208 is #1 in Argentina in January
Exceptional month for new light vehicle sales in Argentina at +103% year-on-year to 65,751 units as import blockades ease. This is the best January volume in 7 years. As a reminder January 2024 sales were down -32.8% on the year prior. Volkswagen (+148%) scores its first monthly win since April 2021 with 17.5% share while Toyota is up 135.2% to 15.9%. Fiat, #1 a year ago, is up “just” 78.5% to 14.2% share, still much better than the 12.1% it held over the Full Year 2024. Peugeot (+70.2%), Renault (+70.2%), Ford (+68.7%) and Chevrolet (+63.1%) are also weak in context. Citroen (+132.7%) is the only remaining Top 10 member beating the market.
Over in the models charts, the Peugeot 208 (+50.7%) reclaims the top spot it held over the Full Year 2024 despite vastly trailing the overall growth rate. The Fiat Cronos (-10.2%) frankly underperforms but still manages a second place vs. #8 in December. The VW Amarok (+66.9%) is the best-selling pickup in the country as it was a year ago in January 2024, distancing the Ford Ranger (+77.4%) and Toyota Hilux (+64.2%). The Toyota Corolla Cross (+566%) and VW Polo (+326.3%) both surge ahead while the Peugeot 2008 breaks its ranking record at #8. The Renault Kardian is also at an all-time high at #12.
