Vietnam Full Year 2024: Mitsubishi Xpander repeats at #1, Xforce lands directly at #4

New vehicle sales in Vietnam advance 11% year-on-year in 2024 to 407,309 units vs. 367,051 a year ago. This is excluding VinFast sales as the company stopped sharing data in October 2023. Hyundai (-0.4%) holds onto the brands top spot but loses two percentage points of share at 16.5%. Toyota (+16%) is catching up and ends the year less than 600 sales below Hyundai. Thaco-Kia (-7.2%) is in difficulty at #3 ahead of Ford (+10%) matching the market and Mitsubishi (+33.4%) soaring up. Isuzu (+21.3%), Honda (+18.8%) and Peugeot (+14.9%) also impress below.
Model-wise, the Mitsubishi Xpander (-1.2%) repeats at #1 with 4.8% share, with the Ford Ranger (+8.8%) up two spots to #2. The Mazda CX-5 (-12.1%) stays in third position but underperforms. The most popular 2024 launch in Vietnam is without contest the Mitsubishi Xforce, landing directly in 4th place and reaching the monthly pole position in July and August. The Toyota Vios (+5.1%), once a dominant force in the Vietnamese market, has to settle with #5 like last year. The Hyundai Accent (-22.4%) freefalls down four ranks to #6.
