53,018 new cars hit Slovenian roads in 2024, a sturdy +8.4% year-on-year improvement. Brand leader Volkswagen (+9%) matches the market to stay atop the brands charts with 14.9% share. Renault (+27.8%) has a very strong year and climbs back up to 2nd place with 11.1% of the market. Skoda (+4%) is knocked down to #3 ahead of Toyota (+2.4%). Peugeot (+21.6%), Hyundai (+19%) and Dacia (+16.1%) all perform splendidly and leapfrog past a struggling Kia (-7.7%) down three spots to #8. Audi (+6.8%) and Citroen (-1.7%) round out the Top 10.
Over in the models charts, the Renault Clio (+73%) surges back above the Skoda Octavia (+1.7%) which had ended its 25 year reign back in 2022. It is therefore the 26th time in the past 28 years that the Clio is the most popular model in Slovenia. The Renault Captur (+40%) also posts a tremendous score but remains in third place. Strikingly, the next 8 models all outpace the market with double digit gains. The Peugeot 2008 (+57.9%), Dacia Duster (+54.3%), VW Golf (+31.7%), Hyundai Tucson (+30%), Skoda Kodiaq (+29.7%) and VW T-Cross (+29.1%) fare best, with the Skoda Kamiq (+14.1%) and VW Tiguan (+12.2%) a little more discreet.
