The Lebanese new car market is up a very dynamic 14.1% year-on-year in 2024 to 24,449 sales. This year is marked by the intense consolidation of the market towards two actors: Toyota (+32.2%) and Nissan (+73.7%). Combined, these two manufacturers account for an oppressive 67.4% share, with 40.9% for Toyota (vs. 35.7% last year) and 26.5% for Nissan (vs. 17.4% in 2023). In contrast Mitsubishi (-37.7%) freefalls to 6.2% (vs. 11.4%). Lexus (+14.3%) matches the market at #4 while Kia (-27.7%) struggles mightily but manages to stay in 5th place. Suzuki (+44.9%) also impresses at #6.
The models ranking is reshuffled compared to last year, with surreal gains on top. The Toyota Land Cruiser (+177.1%) edges past the Nissan Sunny (+134.5%) for just 39 sales, holding 17.4% of the market vs. 17.3% for the Sunny. The Toyota Hilux (+89.6%) is up to 9.5% share, the Nissan Patrol (+84.1%) up to 5.9%, the Lexus LX (+78.5%) up to 3.1% and the Toyota Prado (+64.3%) up to 2.9%.
