Iceland Full Year 2024: Dacia Duster new #1, Tesla off -84.1%

The Icelandic new car market freefalls -41.7% year-on-year in 2024 to just 10,220 units vs. 17,542 last year. Both Toyota (-45.5%) and Kia (-31.5%) gain one spot to rank #1 and #2 respectively in the brands ranking. For its part Hyundai (+31.6%) defies the negative market and surges from 5.1% to 11.5% share, up three ranks to #3. Dacia (-17.3%) resists at #4 whereas last year’s leader Tesla (-84.1%) completely implodes at #5 with 5.5% share vs. 20.2% last year. Skoda (+12.7%), Suzuki (+7.8%) and Land Rover (+0.3%) also manage positive scores in the remainder of the Top 10.

The Dacia Duster (-18.8%) takes charge of the models charts with a dominant 6.8% share vs. 4.9% last year. The Tesla Model Y (-86.7%) crashes to 4.2% share vs. 18.6% in 2023 while the Toyota Land Cruiser makes a triumphant return directly into third place and topped the charts outright in November and December. The Kia Sportage (-20.1%) advances two spots to #4 whereas the Toyota RAV4 (-39.8%) is down one to #5. Hyundai places the i20 (+41.4%), i10 (+2227.3%!) and Tucson (+37.9%) below, all posting fantastic results.
