Iceland November 2024: Market down -61%, Toyota Land Cruiser takes charge

The Toyota Land Cruiser is the best-selling vehicle in Iceland in November.

It’s another horrendous month for new car sales in Iceland at -61% year-on-year to just 506 units. This means the year-to-date volume is now off -41.6% to 9,397. Toyota (+2.2%) braves the mediocre environment to jump to 18.8% share vs. 13.6% so far this year. The podium is unchanged on October with Telsa imploding -91.5% at #2 and Kia (-36.7%) at #3. Honda (+3200%) surges to #4 equal with Hyundai (-55.4%). Volvo (-31.7%) is up three spots on last month to #6, just as the remainder of the Top 10 all beat the market: Skoda is off -19.4%, Ford down -27.6%, Mazda down -39.3% and Mercedes down -40%. Newcomer Xpeng is up two ranks on October to a record 13th place.

Model-wise, the Toyota Land Cruiser snaps the top spot with a fantastic 11.7% share vs. just 1.2% year-to-date. It distances the Tesla Model Y which edges up one spot in the year-to-date ranking to #3. Model Y sales are off -86.5% over the first 11 months of the year. The Honda e:NY1 is up one rank to #3, dislodging the Ford Explorer at #4. The Kia Sorento and Toyota RAV4 are equal with the Explorer.

Previous month: Iceland October 2024: Tesla Model Y #1, Ford Explorer #3, market off -29.1%

One year ago: Iceland November 2023: Tesla Model Y at 46% share, Kia EV9 directly at #7
