Iceland October 2024: Tesla Model Y #1, Ford Explorer #3, market off -29.1%
The Ford Explorer surges to #3 in October.
It’s another mediocre month for Icelandic new car sales in October at -29.1% year-on-year to 681 units. The year-to-date volume is now down -39.9% to 8,891. Toyota (-1%) scores a 4th consecutive monthly win with 14.7% share, but it can’t topple YTD leader Kia even though the latter falls -45.4% to #3 for the month. Tesla (-58%) is in even worse shape year-on-year but climbs two spots on last month to #2. Honda (+640%) skyrockets to #5 and 5.4% share vs. #14 and 1.6% year-to-date. Mazda (+66.7%) and Land Rover (+63.2%) also post fantastic gains in the remainder of the Top 10 while Ford is stable at #6 and 5.1% share vs. #15 and 1.6% so far this year.
Model-wise, the Tesla Model Y scores its 2nd win in the past three months with 9.1% share but remains at a low 4th place year-to-date with sales off -84.9% year-on-year. The Toyota Land Cruiser makes a very rare appearance in the Top 20 directly in 2nd place, followed by the Ford Explorer and Honda e:NY1. The new Xpeng G6 surges to 7th place.
