Taiwan September 2024: Toyota monopolises Top 4, Town Ace repeats at #1
The Toyota Town Ace is the best-selling vehicle in Taiwan again.
After plunging -17% in August, the Taiwanese new car market stabilises in September at -2% year-on-year to 36,352 units. The year-to-date tally is now off -1.6% to 344,116 as a result. The Top 5 brands post sensational scores with double-digit gains all round. Toyota (+15.5%) ascends to 28.1% share vs. 26.6% year-to-date, while Tesla surges 82.2% to return inside the Top 10 directly at #2 with 6.2% share vs. 3.4% so far this year. Mercedes (+16.5%), Lexus (+17.2%) and BMW (+39%) follow. Reversely Nissan (-34.9%), Hyundai (-24.3%), Honda (-23.9%), Mitsubishi (-12.7%) and to a lesser extent CMC (-4.5%) all struggle.
Over in the models charts, Toyota monopolises the Top 4: the Town Ace (+27.3%) repeats at #1 for its second ever win in the country, the new Yaris Cross is up two spots on last month to #2, while the Toyota Corolla Cross (-31.8%) and RAV4 (+35.7%) both drop one rank to #3 and #4 respectively. Two Teslas follow: the Model 3 is up to #5 and the Model Y (+50.1%) stays at #6. Among newcomers, the Luxgen n7 remains at #14 and the Lexus LBX is up 22 spots on August to #20.
