Qatar January-September 2024: Ford (+63%), Geely (+62.9%) highlight market up 9.8%
The Geely Emgrand surges from #55 to #9 in the space of one year.
The Qatari new car market is up a sturdy 9.8% year-on-year over the first 9 months of 2024 to 48,032 units. Toyota (+15.4%) manages to improve its share to an even more dominant 34.5% vs. 32.8% a year ago. Nissan (+29.8%) stays in 2nd place with 8.9% of the market vs. 7.5% in 2023 while Kia (+4.6%) overtakes Lexus (-17.9%) to land on the third step of the podium. Mitsubishi (+29.8%) is also in great shape at #5 vs. #8 last year, followed by Suzuki (-6.6%) and Land Rover (-26%) both in difficulty. Ford (+63%), Geely (+62.9%) and Honda (+51.2%) impress below.
The Toyota Land Cruiser smashes the competition even more thanks to sales up 20.7% leading to 13.7% share. The Lexus LX (-20.2%) follows well below at 4.1%, with the Toyota Hilux (+31.1%) holding the same share at #3. The next three models all score double-digit upticks: the Nissan Sunny (+36.8%) is the most dynamic ahead of the Nissan Patrol (+29.1%) and Toyota Yaris Sedan (+31.1%). Gains are even more spectacular towards the end of the Top 10 with the Geely Emgrand up 344.5% and the Toyota Fortuner up 225.9%.
