Bahrain January-September 2024: Toyota Hilux catches up on Land Cruiser
Toyota Hilux sales are up 78.6% year-on-year in Bahrain.
The Bahraini new car market surges 15.8% year-on-year over the first 9 months of the year to 23,844 units. Toyota (+9%) can’t quite catch up with the market growth and sees its share thaw by two percentage points from 34.7% to 32.7%. Nissan (+30.8%) for its part gains over one percentage point of share from 8.6% to 9.7%. The next four brands underperform, with MG (+13.8%) at #5, Lexus (+7.3%) at #4, Hyundai (+6.9%) at #3 and Isuzu (-0.4%), in negative, at #6. Reversely Ford (+105.5%), Kia (+27.5%) and Mazda (+18.1%) shine in the remainder of the Top 10 while Changan (+7.9%) drops one spot to #8. Further down, Suzuki (+228.4%), Geely (+68%) and Genesis (+54.5%) stand out.
Over in the models charts, the Toyota Land Cruiser (+2.2%) keeps the lead at 5.2% share, distancing a soaring Toyota Hilux (+78.6%) for just 52 sales, the Nissan Sunny (+30.7%) and Toyota Yaris Sedan (+39.8%). The Isuzu D-Max (-7%) falls to #5 ahead of three Toyotas: the Corolla (+14.8%), RAV4 (+94.1%) and Camry (-4.6%). The Ford Territory (+171.9%) stuns and is up 20 spots on a year ago.
