The cars of London, UK
LEVC TX
For those of you who haven’t had the chance to visit London, I have prepared this little Photo Album to give you a snapshot of the car landscape in the city.
The Kia Niro was #2 in London in both 2021 and 2022 and it definitely shows in the streets.
The Tesla Model Y has been dominating the London charts since 2022 and I did indeed spot a lot of them.
Over H1 2024, the MG HS is up to #5, and it is already very well represented in the London car landscape.
The Land Rover Defender was very frequent on the street.
On top of the Tesla Model Y, electrified vehicles are already very common in London, including many Mercedes and the Kia EV6.
The legendary black cab, a Geely owned 2018 LEVC TX.
The guy beside the LEVC TX looks very enthusiastic.
A huge trend I noticed in London when I was there in April was the recent mass importation of used hybrid JDM MPVs. The numbers of hybrid Toyota Alphard, Estima, Noah & Voxy, as well as Nissan Serena and Honda Stepwgn, have absolutely exploded and they were surprisingly common. This trend is slowly starting to replicate here in Edinburgh.
Hi Joe!
It makes perfect sense. The Japanese MPVs are much more reliable and efficient than german ones. The British have always been more receptive to Japanese cars than Europeans, which is a good thing and shows intelligence.
All the best
I’d say it’s absolutely nothing to do with their being Japanese and not German. It’s more to do with them being hybrids and London having the LEZ and then ULEZ. They’re the only realistic option for an HEV 7-seater.
