Ecuador August 2024: Chevrolet (+1.1%) sails away in freefalling market (-18.4%)
The Chevrolet D-Max remains by far the best-selling vehicle in Ecuador.
The new vehicle market in Ecuador, a new monthly update on BSCB, is down a harsh -18.4% year-on-year in August to 9,164 sales. This way, the year-to-date volume is off -18.6% to 75,033. In August. Chevrolet (+1.1%) widens the gap with the #2 Kia (-32.9%) by lodging the only year-on-year gain in the Top 5. Toyota (-47.7%), Hyundai (-36%) and Chery (-19.1%) all fall faster than the market with Chery overtaking Hyundai for #4. Suzuki (+13.5%) is in excellent shape at #6, just as DFSK (-2.4%) and Mazda (-13.1%) limit their fall. JMC (+54.2%), Nissan (+38.7%), Dongfeng (+22.9%), Sinotruk (+16.6%) and Hino (+6.4%) shine below.
Over in the models charts and during the first 8 months of the year, the Chevrolet D-Max remains ultra dominant with 8.4% of the market, distancing the Kia Soluto at 5.5% and the Chevrolet Groove at 3%, up from #9 over the Full Year 2023. The Kia Sonet is down one spot to #4 while the Chevrolet Joy Black is up two to #5. Notice also the arrival inside the Top 10 of the VW T-Cross, DFSK Glory and GWM Poer.
