Norway June 2024: MG smashes all records

MG holds 12.5% of the Norwegian market in June.

New car sales in Norway climb 12.5% year-on-year in June to 17,516 units, yet the H1 2024 volume is in negative at -7.9% to 61,262. BEVs advance 9.5% to 14,013 and 80% share vs. 82.2% a year ago, and are off -5.9% year-to-date to 52,030 and 84.9% share vs. 83.1% over the same period in 2023. HEV sales surge 149.1% to 2,050 for the month and are up 17.7% to 4,853 YTD while PHEVs are off -31.2% to 931 in June and -55.1% YTD to 2,104. Petrol holds 1% of the market and diesel 2%. 

Tesla (+6.4%) reclaims the brands top spot with 21% share vs. 17.1% year-to-date, with Toyota up 114.6% to 18.5% of the market vs. 13.6% so far this year where it now ranks #2 also. MG (+493.2%) is the performer of the month, smashing all its records at #3 with 12.5% share and almost 2,200 sales. Its previous best was #5 in July 2022 and April 2024, 6.3% share in July 2022 and 1,067 sales in December 2022. Volvo (+100.8%) also stuns in 4th place. Hyundai (+25.6%) is the only additional Top 10 member to beat the market at #6.

Model-wise, the Tesla Model Y (-25.7%) and Model 3 (+363.2%) lead the way and account for over 20% of the market combined. The MG 4 (+379.9%) shoos up seven spots on May to land on the third step of the podium, distancing last month’s leader the new Volvo EX30. The Toyota Yaris Cross (+483.6%) lifts 14 ranks on last month to #5, the Toyota bZ4X (+228.6%) is down one to #6, the Audi Q4 e-Tron (+41.8%) is up 2 to #9 and the MG Marvel R (+1154.8%) up 18 to #10.
