Vietnam June 2024: Ford Ranger takes the lead
The Ford Ranger is the most popular vehicle in Vietnam in June.
Local association VAMA has a Vietnamese new vehicle market up 11.7% year-on-year to 26,575 sales, leading to a year-to-date tally off -1.8% to 134,884. These figures climb to 31,622 (+9.4%) and 159,265 (-0.4%) when adding Hyundai who reports separately from VAMA. Note local manufacturer VinFast has stopped communicating monthly sales.
Hyundai (-1.2%) reclaims the pole position it holds year-to-date despite a small year-on-year fall. Toyota (+1.7%) drops to #2 above Thaco-Kia (-0.9%) both relatively stable. Ford (+6%) still can’t quite catch up to the market growth rate, whereas Mitsubishi (+28.7%) posts a stellar uptick. Peugeot (+55.1%) also impress below.
Model-wise, the Ford Ranger (-9%) snaps the top spot for the 2nd time this year after last February, toppling the Mitsubishi Xpander (-3.7%) down to #3 for the month. The Xpander remains the best-seller YTD but for just 30 units above the Ranger. The Mazda CX-5 (+1%) is up four spots on May to #2, the new Mitsubishi Xforce advances to #5 and the Ford Everest (+61.8%) is up to #6.
