Iceland June 2024: Kia up to 20.1% share, Hyundai up 405.8%
The Kia Ceed is up to #3 in Iceland in June.
1,600 new cars found an Icelandic buyer in June, a harsh -37.6% year-on-year fall. The H1 2024 tally is off -38.1% to 6,353. Kia (-2.1%) resists very well to repeat at #1 in the brands charts with a huge 20.1% share. It therefore cements its YTD domination at 15.4% share. Sister brand Hyundai (+405.8%) takes off at #2 with 16.4% share. Toyota (-61.1%), Dacia (-56%) and most strikingly Tesla (-81.6%) all freefall below, while Suzuki (-31.7%) manages to keep its year-on-year loss just below the market rate. Mitsubishi (+1375%), Nissan (+131.3%) and Land Rover (+104.5%) go completely against the depleted environment with fantastic gains in the remainder of the Top 10.
Model-wise, the Dacia Duster easily retains the top spot for the third straight month and the 4th time this year with 9.5% share. The Kia Sportage repeats at #2 ahead of the Kia Ceed , Hyundai i10 and i20. The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross soars to #7 vs. #23 over H1 whereas the Tesla Model Y is stuck in 8th place and sees its H1 volume implode -86% year-on-year. The Suzuki SX4 (#10), KG Mobility Korando (#15) and Nissan X-Trail (#19) also stand out.
