Greece June 2024: Yaris Cross pushes Toyota to record share

The Toyota Yaris Cross is up to a record 12.8% share in June.

The Greek new car market is up a solid 5.6% year-on-year in June to 14,147 sales, leading to H1 2024 volumes up 10.9% to 78,020. Toyota surges 65.8% year-on-year to reach a record 21.8% share, eclipsing its previous best of 19.7% hit in August 2021. Suzuki (+27.6%) is also in great shape and ascends to the 2nd spot in the year-to-date ranking, toppling Peugeot (-20.4%) down to a paltry #6 this month. Citroen (+7%) edges past the market growth and rallies back up three spots on May to #3 ahead of Hyundai (+5.7%). Fiat (+177.6%) manage the largest gain in the entire market and ranks #5 vs. #7 year-to-date.

Over in the models charts, the Toyota Yaris Cross (+137.8%) soars to an unheard-of 12.8% share, shooting up from #5 after 5 months to #1 halfway through the year. The Citroen C3 (+212.2%) is up to 2nd place above last month’s leader the Suzuki Ignis (+127.2%). The Toyota Yaris (+17.1%) is more shy but still clearly up, while the Fiat Panda (+415.8%) and Fiat 500 (+1226.1%) both posts surreal upticks. The VW Polo (+90.6%) and Toyota Aygo X (+55.8%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10. All successful models this month owe a lot to car rental companies gearing up for the summer months.
