China imports June 2024: Range Rover up to #4

The Range Rover is up to #4 among imports in China in June.

Sales of new imports in China retrograde -14.7% year-on-year in June to 52,925 units, bringing the H1 2024 tally -10.1% to 316,171. Lexus (-0.9%) resists very well in the brands pole position and even sports a 26.1% year-on-year increase so far in 2024. BMW (+15.6%) lodges a stellar uptick, reducing its YTD fall to -7.4%. Mercedes (-24.4%), Porsche (-36.5%) and Audi (-31.7%) are in dire straits while Land Rover (-4.8%) handles ok. Toyota (+90.7%) is the biggest and only additional gainer in the Top 10.

Model-wise, the Lexus ES (+7.4%) is more dominant than ever, selling 3.8 times the amount of the #2, the Mercedes GLE (-4%). The Lexus RX (-27.6%) manages to stay in third place despite a significant year-on-year loss. The Range Rover (+29.8%) advances to a splendid 4th place above the Land Rover Defender (-7.6%). The Toyota Alphard (+139.4%) is euphoric at #10 whereas the Porsche Cayenne (-23.1%) and Panamera (-29.7%) are hit hard.
