United Arab Emirates May 2024: Mitsubishi (+97.8%), Ford (+89.1%) surge, Tesla Model 3 up to #4
Ford UAE sales almost double year-on-year in May.
New car sales in the United Arab Emirates surge 18.9% year-on-year in May to 26,787 units, bringing the year-to-date tally up 13.4% to 120,996. Toyota (+13.5%) and Nissan (+15%) both trail the market in the brands lead, but Toyota still manages an excellent 26.4% share. Mitsubishi (+97.8%) doubles its sales year-on-year on a low year-ago basis as it only reaches 6.8% share vs. 7.5% so far this year. Only sharing its sales since the start of the year, Tesla advances to #4 and 4.5% share this month and now ranks #13 year-to-date. Hyundai (+3.8%) rallies back up five spots on las month to #5. Ford (+89.1%), Land Rover (+51.4%) and Kia (+28.7%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10.
Over in the models lane, the Nissan Sunny (+19.3%) reclaims the top spot it holds year-to-date with a solid 5% share. The Toyota Hilux (+26.4%) overtakes the Nissan Patrol (+9.4%) to land in 2nd place while the Tesla Model 3 skyrockets up 41 ranks on last month to #4. The Toyota Land Cruiser (-22.3%) is in trouble at #5 ahead of the Toyota Yaris Sedan (+5883.3%) recovering rom a daunting year-ago result. Notice also the Mitsubishi Outlander (+131.5%), Land Rover Defender (+68.2%) and Toyota Fortuner (+29.4%) all in outstanding shape.
