Morocco May 2024: Renault (+38.7%) surges to highest share in almost two years

The Renault Megane E-Tech has just launched in Morocco.

15,970 new light vehicles found a buyer in Morocco in May, a 8.5% year-on-year gain. This incudes 14,546 passenger cars (+9.1%) and 1,424 light commercials (+2.1%). The passenger cars year-to-date volume is now down -0.3% year-on-year to 58,193. Dacia (+8.7%) matches the market but can only muster a 22.1% share vs. 26.2% so far this year. Renault (+38.7%) surges ahead to 18.3% share vs. 15.5% YTD. This is Renault’s strongest share since the 20.8% it reached in September 2022. Reversely Hyundai (-25.8%), Peugeot (-9%) and Volkswagen (-2.5%) struggle. In the remainder of the Top 10, Skoda (+62.5%), Citroen (+36%) and Fiat (+15.6%) impress while Kia (+0.8%) and Opel (-13.6%) trail the market. Further down, Porsche (+136%), Cupra (+86.2%), Seat (+68.7%), MG (+38.5%) and BMW (+30.6%) stand out.
