Luxembourg May 2024: Sales back in negative (-12.6%), BMW (+13.3%) catches up on Volkswagen (+1.8%)

BMW sales climb 13.3% year-on-year in negative market

The new car market in Luxembourg returns to negative territory in May at a harsh -12.6% year-on-year to 3,847 units. This way the year-to-date tally is off -4.4% to 20,761. Volkswagen (+1.8%) retains the brands top spot with 13.3% share, however BMW (+13.3%) is not far behind at 12.6%, one percentage point above its year-to-date level. Mercedes (-28.7%) and Audi (-33.9%) both suffer but hold onto the third and fourth spots respectively. Volvo (+26.9%), Ford (+23%), Seat (+22.2%) and Dacia (+20.2%) post very solid scores below whereas Peugeot (-53.1%) and Opel (-65.9%) freefall. Xpeng lands at #47.
