Argentina April 2024: Peugeot 208 #1, Toyota Yaris, Corolla Cross and Corolla surge
The Peugeot 208 is the best-selling vehicle in Argentina in April.
The Argentinean new light vehicle market dramatically slows down its fall this month to -5.5% and 31,018 sales vs. -36.4% in March. The year-to-date tally is now down -24.2% to 111,596. The Top 2 manufacturers defy the negative market with upticks: Toyota is up 1.8% to a splendid 24.5% share vs. 20.6% so far year while Volkswagen gains 11.8% but finds itself below it YTD level at 13.3% vs. 14.4%. Citroen (+66.4%) and Jeep (+18.3%) shine in the remainder of the Top 10 while Fiat (-5.3%) matches the market at #3 but all other Top 10 members fall faster than average, with Renault (-44.1%) and Peugeot (-26.5%) hit the hardest.
Model-wise, the Peugeot 208 (-27%) topples the Fiat Cronos (-39.3%) even though it endures a scathing fall, but the Cronos falls even faster. It is the 208’s second ever win in Argentina after June 2023. The Toyota Yaris (+114.9%) continues to swim upstream as the Etios (-92.5%) is discontinued at #43. The Toyota Hilux (-11.1%), Ford Ranger (-1.3%) and Toyota Corolla Cross (+55%) camp on their March rankings with very different fortunes. The Chevrolet Tracker (+92.2%), Toyota Corolla (+76.6%) and VW Polo (+49.7%) stun below.
