Kazakhstan February 2024: Chinese up to 35.2% share, Hyundai Tucson clear #1
The Jetour X70 is up to a record 5th place in Kazakhstan in February.

After progressing 7.8% year-on-year in January to 11,244, Kazakh new car sales retract -6.2% in February to 12,299. This leads to a year-to-date volume down just 4 units to 23,543. Hyundai (-19.1%) skids but easily retains the brands top spot with 22.8% share. Kia (+1%) defies the negative market to maintain itself in 2nd place above an imploding Chevrolet (-67.9%). Chery (+56.8%) drops one spot on a record 3rd place reached in January while Haval (+87.2%) is up to an all-time high #5 also reached last May. JAC (+39.1%) and Changan (+99.6%) also stun as does Geely (+181.5%). Newcomer Jetour slips down one rank on a record 6th place hit last month. Subaru (+98.1%) and GAZ (+52.2%) also shine below while Zeekr breaks into the Top 20 at #19. All in all, Chinese manufacturers soar 132.5% year-on-year in February to 35.2% share vs. 14.2% a year ago.
Model-wise, the Hyundai Tucson (+27.2%) is ultra dominant at 13.7% share in January and 13.4% in February. The Chevrolet Cobalt (-64.4%) follows but remains #3 year-to-date below the Kia Sportage (+66.1%). The new Chery Tiggo 2 is up to #4 ahead of the Jetour X70 up to a record 5th place. The GAZ Gazelle (+52.2%) and Hyundai Sonata (+18.8%) also impress in the remainder of the Top 10 while the Kia Cerato (+1030.8%) is euphoric. The new Haval M6 lodges its 2nd ever incursion into the Kazakh Top 10, breaking its ranking record at #8.
