Brazil February 2024: Market up 29.7%, Fiat places three models in Top 4

The Fiat Mobi ranks at #4 in Brazil in February.

The Brazilian new light vehicle market advances 29.7% year-on-year in February to 155,283 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 22.8% to 307,339. Fiat (+29%) matches the market to a splendid 22.1% share. In fact the podium is unchanged on last month and on the Full Year 2023 order: Volkswagen (+46.9%) follows ahead of Chevrolet (-11%). Toyota (+8.5%) is weak while Hyundai (+37.1%) and Renault (+31.3%) are solid. Jeep (-3.2%) is missing out on the market surge at #7, just as Nissan (+36.4%), Honda (+30.1%) and most strikingly BYD (+1809.1%) round out the Top 10 in fantastic fashion. This is the third consecutive Top 10 finish for BYD which is establishing itself as a main actor in the Brazilian market. It notably outsells fellow Chinese fare Chery (+156.7%) at #11.

Fiat places three models in the Top 4: the Strada (+25.3%) at #1, the Argo (+43.5%) at #3 an the Mobi (+54.3%) at #4. The VW Polo (+114.3%) is the odd one out at #2, still boosted by its new status as the replacement for the Gol. The Renault Kwid (+58%) climbs back up 13 spots on January to #5, its highest ranking since May 2020 (#4). The Hyundai HB20 (+76.7%) soars year-on-year but drops four ranks on last month to #6. The VW Saveiro (+97.3%) repeats inside the Top 10 at #9 vs. #19 over the Full Year 2023. Notice also the Fiat Fastback (+50.2%) up to #14 vs. #24 over FY2023, the new Ram Rampage up 10 spots to #26, the BYD Dolphin down three to #33 and the new Fiat Titano mid-size pickup, a Peugeot Landtrek twin, landing at #107.
