Romania January 2024: Tesla Model 3 up to #5, market up 3.8%
The Tesla Model 3 is up to a record 5th place in January.
Romanian new car sales climb 3.8% year-on-year in January to 12,733 units. Dacia (-13.7%) is in difficulty year-on-year but still manages a strong 31% market share, to be compared with 31.8% over the Full Year 2023. Toyota (+36.5%), Skoda (+54.5%) and Hyundai (+11.5%) are all in outstanding shape below, holding 7.8%, 7% and 6.7% share respectively. Renault (-35.9%) is in total freefall at #5 vs. #2 over the Full Year 2023. Volkswagen (+22.4%) is also strong at #6 but not as much as Tesla (+540.9%) up to a record 7th place also hit last July. Kia (+75.1%) and Mercedes (+18.2%) also impress with Ssangyong (+89.5%), Audi (+67.1%) and Nissan (+61.8%) standing out below.
The Dacia Logan (-15.5%) holds onto the models top spot with a round 10% share. It distances the Duster (+2.7%), Sandero (-31.6%) and Spring (+12.9%). The Tesla Model 3 (+741.3%) is the best-selling foreign model in Romania this month at #5 overall, eclipsing its previous ranking record of #8 set in September 2022. The Toyota C-HR (+177.1%), Kia Sportage (+55.7%), Hyundai Tucson (+48.7%) and Skoda Octavia (+44.6%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10. The Dacia Jogger (-34.2%) is in trouble at #7.
