Vietnam November 2023: Hyundai (+5.8%), Honda (+75.8%) ignore diving market, Mazda CX-5 #1 again
Hyundai is by far the #1 manufacturer in Vietnam in November.
According to local manufacturers association VAMA, new vehicle sales in Vietnam continue to crater at -23.1% in November to just 27,953 units. The year-to-date tally is now down -28.7% to 263,251. These figures climb to 35,933 (-19.3%) and 341,337 (-25.8%) when adding Hyundai who reports separately. Note VinFast stopped communicating monthly sales figures. Hyundai (+5.8%) braves the negative context to lead the brands charts with an impressive 22.2% share vs. 16.6% year-to-date. Toyota (-32.8%) freefalls but climbs back up to #2 ahead of Thaco-Kia (-17.4%). Ford (-13%) follows just above Mazda (+0.4%) and Honda (+75.8%) in fantastic shape. Peugeot (+17.6%), BMW+Mini (+59.8%) and Lexus (+159.7%) stand out below.
Model-wise, the Mazda CX-5 (+70.7%) surges ahead to secure a 4th consecutive month in pole position. It however remains in 2nd place year-to-date below the Mitsubishi Xpander (-38.1%) down to #4 for the month. The Hyundai Accent (-19.6%) ranks at a close #2 with the Toyota Vios (-21.6%) rounding out the podium. The Kia Sonet (+96.1%), Honda HR-V (+63.5%) Honda City (+52.4%), Hyundai Tucson (+42.1%) and Hyundai Santa Fe (+20.2%) all ignore the depleted market with fantastic gains.
