China imports November 2023: Land Rover (+84.9%), Audi (+84.6%) impress in market up again

The Q7 pushes Audi sales up in November.

It’s a second consecutive month of year-on-year growth for the Chinese imports market in November at +18.3% to 65,998. The year-to-date tally however remains in negative at -4.5% to 660,983. Lexus (+43.4%) continues to compensate for low year-ago levels and is once again the clear winner with almost 18,000 sales. It distances Mercedes (+12.1%) and BMW (+2.8%) both soft. It’s a tough month for Porsche (-16.6%) yet it lodged a particularly strong month a year ago. Audi (+84.6%), Land Rover (+84.9%) and Toyota (+54.4%) all surge ahead while Volvo (+22.8%) edges past the market growth at #8. Mini (-26.2%) and Volkswagen (-7.1%) disappoint but ensure the Top 10 brands order for November is identical to YTD.

The Lexus ES (+73.8%) is head and shoulders above the competition again with just under 12,700 sales, with the Mercedes GLE (+107.5%) confirming its 2nd spot and the Porsche Cayenne (-8.8%) round ing out the podium. The Lexus RX (+18.8%) ascends to 4th place year-to-date while the Toyota Alphard (+2.3%) is up three spots on October to #5. The Land Rover Defender (+83.1%) and Audi Q7 (+249.7%) stun in the remainder of the Top 10 but no other model beats the market. Below, notice the Range Rover (+108.4%), Audi A5 (+113.1%), BMW X7 (+99.6%) and most strikingly the Toyota Land Cruiser (+2326.3%) stand out.
