Slovakia September 2023: Skoda Octavia and Kamiq lead surging market (+31%)
The Skoda Kamiq is up to #2 in Slovakia in September.
The Slovak new car market surges 31% year-on-year in September to 6,859 units, meaning the year-to-date tally is now up 16.7% to 67,804. The Top two brands vastly outpace the market: Skoda is up 56.8% to 20.1% share and Toyota gains 61.2% to 12.7% of the market. Kia (+24.6%) and Hyundai (+24.9%) follow but can’t catch the market growth whereas Volkswagen (-9.3%) is hit hard at #5 and endures the only year-on-year loss in the Top 8. Below, Citroen (+83.5%), Mercedes (+68.6%) and Peugeot (+34.5%) stand out. The rest of the Top 10 underperforms with BMW up 10.3%, Suzuki up 5.9% and Dacia actually down -18.4%.
Over in the models ranking, the Skoda Octavia (+73.5%) shoots up to retain the pole position with 5.4% share. It distances the Skoda Kamiq (+116.5%) even more dynamic. The Hyundai i30 (+61%) also beats the market at #3 ahead of the Kia Sportage (+29.8%) and Kia Ceed (+70.3%). The Toyota RAV4 (+63.7%) and Skoda Scala (+52.7%) also shines but the Skoda Fabia (-18.4%) sinks. The Skoda Karoq (+6.1%) almost doubles its year-ago volume while the Peugeot 208 (+13.6%) is soft year-on-year but up 18 spots on August to #10.
