Kazakhstan September 2023: Market up 48.7%, Jetour, Haval stand out, Hyundai i20 #3

The Kazakh new vehicle market lifts by a spectacular 48.7% year-on-year in September to 17,825 units, leading to a year-to-date volume up 58.9% to 138,199. The Top 2 manufacturers both trail the market with Hyundai up 38% and Chevrolet imploding at -20.5%. Kia (+64.6%) and Chery (+157%) both impress, Chery equalling its record ranking of #4. Toyota (+46.8%) trails the market slightly but returns to the 5th pace it holds year-to-date. At #6, Haval (+750.8%) shoots up and scores its 2nd best ranking below the #5 it hit last May. JAC (+81.6%) is also very solid at #7, followed by newcomers Jetour and Changan. Jetour reaches a new record ranking, volume and share. Exeed (+66.2%) makes it 6 Chinese brands in the Top 10. Omoda lands directly at #16 in August and #14 in September.

Model-wise, the Chevrolet Cobalt (-18%) and Hyundai Tucson (-16.5%) retain the Top 2 spots despite going completely against the market with double-digit year-on-year losses. The Cobalt holds 11.4% of the market this month vs. 15.2% year-to-date and the Tucson is at 5% vs. 7.2%. In contrast the next two models, both recent launches, deliver outstanding scores: the Hyundai i20 is up 11 spots on August to land on the podium for the first time at #3 with 4.8% share vs. 1.2% year-to-date and the Chery Tiggo 2 remains in 4th place with 4.5% share vs, 1.2% so far this year. The Kia Sportage (+212.2%) surges year-on-year but drops two spots on August to #5. The Hyundai Santa Fe (+61.5%) and i30 (+233.9%) also stand out below while the Haval M6 is up 19 ranks on last month to crack the Top 10 for the first time at #9.
