Cyprus September 2023: Kia Sportage takes the lead in euphoric market (+28.6%)
The Kia Sportage is the best-selling vehicle in Cyprus in September.
Data shared with us by our local partners SEMO Cyprus and INNOSOFT show a Cyprus new car market shooting up 28.6% year-on-year in September to 1,525 sales. This brings the year-to-date tally up 27.7% to 11,580. Market leaders Kia (-1.1%) and Toyota (-19.1%) as well as Volkswagen (-19.3%) don’t benefit from the market surge at all, even registering year-on-year losses. In contrast Hyundai (+151%) and Nissan (+550%) soar, with six of the next seven carmakers beating the market: Mini (+650%) is the most dynamic above Skoda (+194.1%), Dacia (+152.6%), Audi (+131%), Jeep (+57.1%) and BMW (+43.9%).
Model-wise, the Kia Sportage (+67.2%) takes the overall lead with 6.7% share and ranks #4 year-to-date. It distances last month’s leader the Toyota Yaris (-6.4%) with the Kia Ceed (+230.8%) rallying back up to #3 and the Hyundai Tucson (+235.3%) up 12 spots on August to #4. The VW T-Roc (-42.3%) flounders at #5 whereas the Nissan Juke (+760%) posts a surreal year-on-year gain. The Skoda Kamiq (+516.7%), Nissan Qashqai (+500%) and Dacia Sandero (+400%) do the same below.
