Romania July 2023: Tesla smashes all records, market up 12.7%

The Tesla Model Y is up to 5th place in Romania in July.

13,630 new cars hit Romanian roads in July, a 12.7% year-on-year improvement. The year-to-date tally is now up 23.3% to 87,275. Local behemoth Dacia (+17%) beats its home market to 31.6% share, a little below the 33.1% it commands year-to-date. Toyota (+11.3%) threepeats at #2 with 8.1% share, just above Skoda (+23.8%). Volkswagen (+36.4%) is also in great shape while Renault (+21.6%) is stuck at #5 vs. #2 so far this year. Tesla (+612.4%) surges to a record 7th place with 634 sales and 4.7% share, smashing its previous bests of #9, 341 units and 2.9% share hit in September 2022. Suzuki (+151.4%) also impresses at #9.

The Dacia Logan (+62.9%) shoots up year-on-year and holds 9.9% of its home market thanks to 1,349 sales. It distances the Dacia Duster (-0.3%) while the Dacia Spring (+38.7%) overtakes the Dacia Sandero (-21.2%) to rank #3. There are ‘only’ 4 Dacias in the Top 5 this month, as the Tesla Model Y (+1330.3%) skyrockets to a record 5th place and 3.5% share vs. 1.3% so far this year. The Dacia Jogger (+27.5%) is relegated to 6th position. Below, the Skoda Octavia (+74.4%), Toyota Corolla (+26.1%), Suzuki SX4 S-Cross (+141.3%) and Toyota Yaris Cross (+139.2%) excel.
