Colombia July 2023: Mazda (+38.7%) places CX-30 in the lead again in devastated market
The Mazda CX-30 is the best-selling vehicle in Colombia again.
The Colombian new car market continues to implode in July at -43.5% year-on-year to just 13,146 units, as low as 26 years ago in 1997 (13,427). This brings the year-to-date total to 104,015, off 29.3% over the same period last year. In the brands ranking, Chevrolet (-50.7%) is up three spots on June to reclaim the top spot for the first time since January at 13.9% share. Only 5 units below is Toyota (+0.4%), leader last month and going against the freefalling market with a tiny year-on-year gain. In contrast Renault (-62.2%) completely crumbles at #3. Mazda (+38.7%) scores another stunning month to 11.2% share vs. 9.3% year-to-date. All remaining Top 10 brands lose ground, with Ford (-6.8%) and Kia (-15.4%) faring best and Suzuki (-74%) and Volkswagen (-63.3%) hit the hardest.
Over in the models ranking, the Mazda CX-30 (-28.5%) repeats at #1 but the Renault Duster (-50.1%) is just 5 sales below in 2nd place. The Kia Picanto (+40.4%) surges ahead to #3 ahead of the Toyota Corolla Cross (+25.6%) also in outstanding shape. The Mazda2 (+161.2%) and Ford Ranger (+143.7%) both do even better and more than double their July 2022 scores. The Chevrolet Onix (-41.7%) manages a slightly better hold than the market whereas the Suzuki Swift (-78.2%), #1 a year ago, and the Renault Kwid (-64.3%) both sink.
