Denmark June 2023: Tesla places Model Y and 3 on the podium

Tesla Model 3 sales are up 614.4% year-on-year in June.

Danish new car sales progress 24.1% year-on-year in June to 18,307 units, leading to a H1 2023 volume up 14.8% to 84,334. Tesla (+810%) posts another formidable result at 15.5% of the market vs. 12.4% so far this year where it is also #1 (+675.7%). As a reminder the American brand only ranked #18 over the Full Year 2022. Volkswagen (+31.8%) and Audi (+158.4%) also shine to round out the podium as they did in May and do over H1 2023. Toyota (-36.1%) is in freefall to #4, having ranked #1 a year ago in June 2022. Cupra (+138.9%) breaks into the Top 10 for the first time at #9, selling 4.5 times the volume of sister brand Seat at #21. Nissan (+112%), Renault (+108.1%) and Fiat (+103.1%) also impress below.

Model-wise, the Tesla Model Y (+879.2%) remains ultra dominant at 11.8% share, or almost 3.5 times its closest competitor, the Ford Kuga (+89.2%). Tesla even places two nameplates on the podium with the Model 3 (+614.4%) at #3. The Peugeot 208 (+126.7%) and Cupra Formentor (+166.7%) round out the Top 5, followed by the VW T-Roc (+74.3%) and Nissan Qashqai (+90.4%). In fact the entire Top 9 beats the market with the VW ID.4 (+137.9%) and Polo (+353.8%) in tow. The Toyota Corolla Cross (#40) is the most popular recent launch above the VW ID.Buzz (#56) and Audi Q8 e-Tron (#57).
