Israel May 2023: Skoda (+88.9%) ignores market down -3.1%
Skoda sales almost double year-on-year in May.
Data by our local partner cartube.co.il shows an Israeli new car market down -3.1% year-on-year to 24,303 units. Thanks to a strong start of the year, the year-to-date tally is now up 10% to 149,604. Hyundai (-25.6%) stays overall best-seller despite a hefty year-on-year loss. It ends the month only 59 sales above sister brand Kia (-1.6%) which contains its drop. Toyota (-16.6%) also struggles but stays in 3rd position. Skoda (+88.9%) ignores the negative market and climbs two spots on April to #4. Chinese fares BYD and Chery continue to stun albeit both down one rank on last month to #5 and #6 respectively. Only Suzuki (+30.4%) manages a positive result in the remainder of the Top 10, with Mitsubishi (-12.3%), Citroen (-13.6%) and most significantly Mazda (-40.2%) all suffer. Tesla (+40700%!) is up to #14 vs. #20 year-to-date. Weltmeister makes its entrance in the Israeli charts with its first 3 sales.
