Greece May 2023: Opel Corsa (+163.5%) cements leadership
The Opel Corsa is once again the most popular vehicle in Greece.
New car sales in Greece slow down their growth in May at a still solid +8.1% to 12,957 sales, meaning the year-to-date tally is now up 30.3% to 56,968. Toyota (-8.4%) disappoints but keeps the lead of the brands ranking with 12.8% share. Once again Opel (+174.4%) shows insolent health and clings to the 2nd spot with 10.8% of the market. Volkswagen (+5.8%) and Hyundai (-23.3%) both trail the market while Peugeot (+10.4%) edges past it at #5. Notice also Renault (+191.9%), Suzuki (+66.9%) and BMW (+24.4%) all euphoric in the remainder of the Top 10.
Over in the models aisle, the Opel Corsa (+165.3%) confirms it is the new favourite of Greek car buyers and cements its YTD dominance. The Toyota Yaris (-35.4%) is in freefall but climbs back up two spots on April to #2 while the Hyundai i20 (+11.3%) rallies back up 25 ranks to #3. The Toyota C-HR (+28.5%) is very solid at #4 vs. #9 last month and YTD with the Opel Mokka (+723.8%) is up 32 spots to #5. The Renault Clio (+194.3%), Suzuki Swift (+193.8%) and Hyundai i10 (+59.6%) also stun below.
