Vietnam November 2022: Toyota Corolla Cross #1, Ford Territory lands directly at #10
The new Ford Territory is already inside the Vietnamese Top 10.
The Vietnamese new vehicle market shifts into negative in November, down -5.9% year-on-year to 36,371 units. The year-to-date tally now stands at 369,334, up 43.5% over the same period in 2021. These figures climb to 44,508 (-3.6%) and 460,015 (+44.6%) once adding Hyundai and the two models VinFast has reported sales on. These two manufacturers report sales separately from VAMA. Note VinFast numbers have been removed from the November 2021 comparison set to a have a likes for likes evolution.
Toyota (-13%) remains the most popular manufacturer in the country with 19.5% share vs. 17.7% so far this year. Hyundai (+0.2%) edges up to retain the 2nd spot above Thaco-Kia (-24.6%). Ford (+42.5%) posts a stunning year-on-year gain and stays at #4 with 10.1% share, almost double its year-to-date level of 5.2%. Mitsubishi (+6.8%) scores the only additional lift in the market.
Over in the models aisle, the Toyota Corolla Cross (-27.7%) secures its fifth win over the past 13 months despite a drastic year-on-year fall but is stuck at #4 year-to-date. The Mitsubishi Xpander (+63.8%) and Hyundai Accent (+98.4%) manage sensational upticks in the remainder of the podium. Leader last month, the Ford Ranger (-5.1%) skids to 4th place above the YTD leader the Toyota Vios (-27.5%) in difficulty. This month we welcome the Ford Territory at #10, the Kia Carens at #22 and the Hyundai Stargazer at #23. Notice also the VinFast VF 8 at #30.
