Spain November 2022: Fiat 500 and Toyota Yaris Cross top market up 10.3%
The Fiat 500 is the best-selling vehicle in Spain in November.
Spanish new car sales post a 4th consecutive month of year-on-year gains and third straight double-digit lift in November at +10.3% to 73,221 units. Yet the year-to-date tally remains in negative at -4.4% to 739,469. In the channel detail, private sales edge up 3.9% to 35,776 and 48.9% share vs. 51.9% a year ago, company sales match the market at +10.1% to 31,641 and 43.2% share vs. 43.3% and rental sales shoot up 79.7% to 5,804 and 7.9% share vs. 4.9% in November 2021. Year-to-date, private sales are stable at 330,687 and 44.7% share vs. 42.8% over the same period a year ago, company sales are up 7.4% to 316,175 a 42.8% share vs. 38.1% in 2021 and rental sales sink -37.5% to 92,607 and 12.5% share vs. 19.2% a year ago. Looking at sales by region, Ceuta y Melilla (+19.8%), Canarias (+17.4%), Madrid (+14.9%), Murcia (+10.6%) and Comu. Valencia (+10.2%) are the most dynamic.
The Top 3 brands beat the market this month. Toyota (+44.3%) scores another fantastic gain to reach 10.7% share vs. 9.2% so far this year. Kia (+11.5%) is more discreet but keeps the 2nd spot it holds year-to-date, while Renault (+39.4%) is in great shape and up three spots on last month to #3. Only Mercedes (+40.3%) and BMW (+13.8%) also outpace the market in the remainder of the Top 10. Volkswagen (+3.5%) and Citroen (+2.2%) only edge up whereas Seat (-1.1%), Hyundai (-14.2%) and Peugeot (-31.7%) fall. Below, Fiat (+75.5%), Skoda (+52.8%), Ford (+50.2%) and Opel (+33.4%) impress with MG (+736.9%) surges ahead and remains at a record #18. Notice Cupra (-12.4%) down for the 2nd month in a row.
Model-wise, the Fiat 500 (+102.3%) more than doubles its sales year-on-year to grab a third ever monthly win after June 2021 and September 2021. It advances to #7 year-to-date as a result. The Toyota Yaris Cross (+96%) is up a whopping 15 ranks on last month to a best-ever 2nd place with 2.5% share vs. 1.5% year-to-date. Holding the Top 2 spots last month, the Dacia Sandero (-23.9%) and Hyundai Tucson (-20.4%) fall heavily year-on-year and are down to #3 and #4 respectively. The Tucson however easily holds onto the YTD pole position. The Kia Sportage (+109%) continues to benefit from its new generation and ranks at #6 for the month vs. #8 YTD. The Toyota Yaris (+510.3%) rallies back up 22 spots on October to #9 while the Renault Arkana (+126.1%) is back inside the Top 10 at #10. The MG ZS (+1105.4%) continues to shine at #16. The Renault Austral tops recent launches at #38.
