Romania November 2022: Dacia Duster best-seller, 5 Dacias in Top 5 for 2nd time ever, market off -3.5%

The Dacia Duster is the best-selling vehicle in Romania for the third time ever.

The Romanian new car market edges down -3.5% year-on-year in November to 11,074 registrations, meaning the year-to-date volume is now up 6.9% to 116,892. Local hero Dacia (+0.5%) is stable to 34% share vs. 29.7% year-to-date, with Toyota (+22.1%) in solid shape and up two spots on October to #2. Skoda (+91.5%) spectacularly catches up on a devastated year-ago performance and is up one rank on last month to #3. Hyundai (-17.7%) and Renault (-24.3%) round out the Top 5 in paltry fashion. Below, Suzuki (+87.9%), Volkswagen (+69.2%) and Mercedes (+15.2%) all vastly outrace the market with double-digit gains. Ford (-38.9%) freefalls at #7 and Peugeot (-14.8%) is also in a rut at #10.

Over in the models ranking, the Dacia Duster surges 61.3% to snap the overall lead for the third time in history after March 2021 and March 2022. This means that for the 5th time this year the Dacia Logan (-0.5%) is toppled from the #1 spot vs. three times in 2021, but it stays #1 YTD. Keep in mind that before March 2021 the Logan had ranked #1 at home every single month since its launch back in September 2004. The Dacia Sandero (+19.8%) is also very solid in third place while the Spring (-61.6%) and new Jogger (#5) mean the Top 5 is 100% Dacia for the 2nd time ever after last June. The Skoda Octavia (+123.2%) is the best of the rest at #6 ahead of the Renault Clio (-16.6%) and Hyundai Tucson (+5.6%). The Toyota Corolla (+14.2%) and Hyundai i30 (+166.2%) round out the Top 10.
