Toyota (+60.2%) is up to 11.3% of the market vs. 8% YTD, BMW soars 127.8% to 9.5% share vs. 7.1% in 2022 and Volvo gains 17.2% to reach 9.3% of the market vs. 5.9% over the first 10 months of 2021. Skoda (+6%) is a little shy and rounds out the Top 5. Mercedes (+83.4%), Mazda (+40.8%) and to a lesser extent Nissan (+9.9%) also outpace the market in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas Hyundai (-38.5%) and Audi (-18.7%) struggle. Among Chinese carmakers, MG is up 186.1% to #13, BYD off -50.7% to #17, Hongqi up 3725% to #18, Maxus up 647.1% to #19, NIO up 1020% to #21 and Xpeng down -55.8% to #30.
Model-wise, the VW ID.4 (+11.1%) is up one spot on September to snap the top ranking for the third time this year after August and May. It however remains #2 year-to-date below the Tesla Model Y down to #54 for the month as is traditionally the case for the carmaker backloading during end-of-quarters. The Skoda Enyaq (-1.2%) is also up one rank on last month to #2 and #3 YTD. The BMW iX is back up six spots to #3 while the Volvo C40 is up two to a record 4th place. The VW ID.3 (+57.7%) and Audi e-Tron (+38.7%) vastly outrace the market below but are the only remaining Top 10 models to be up. We welcome the Toyota bZ4X directly at #16, its twin the Subaru Solterra at #24 and the VW ID.Buzz up 93 ranks to #40.
