Iraq 9 months 2022: Kia and Toyota hold combined 61.8% share
The Kia Frontier holds 23.1% of the Iraqi market.
Over the first 9 months of 2022, 57,741 new light vehicles found a new home in Iraq. Kia holds onto the brands top spot with a mammoth 34% share, distancing Toyota at an equally generous 27.8% of the market. This means 61.8% of new cars sold over the period in Iraq are either a Kia or a Toyota. Hyundai rounds out the podium at 8.8% share. MG confirms it is a new blockbuster here with an outstanding 4th place overall ahead of Chevrolet and Jeep. Changan and Haval are the two additional Chinese fares inside the Top 10, with Suzuki and GMC also holding a spot among Iraq’s 10 most popular carmakers. Notice also Ram at #14, Cadillac at #15 and Geely at #19.
In the models aisle, the Kia Frontier continues to lead head and shoulders at 23.1% share, followed like in June by the Toyota Hilux (10.3%), Toyota Land Cruiser (6.6%) and Kia Sorento (4.6%). The Hyundai Elantra (4.1%) overtakes its competitor the Toyota Corolla (4%) while the Jeep Grand Cherokee is up four spots to #7. The Chevrolet Tahoe distances the Chevrolet Captiva aka Baojun 530 inside the Top 10 once again at #9 with the Kia Cerato closing the Top 10. Note also the Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup at #11, the Hyundai Kona at #20 and the Mitsubishi L200 at #21.
