Indonesia October 2022: Honda Brio snaps lead in market up 23.4%

The Honda Brio is the best-selling vehicle in Indonesia in October.

The Indonesian new wholesales market is up a stellar 23.4% year-on-year in October to 93,197 units, leading to a year-to-date volume up 21.1% to 851,413. Meanwhile retail sales are up 16.4% for the month to 89,651 and up 21.4% year-to-date to 822,013.

In the wholesales brands ranking, Toyota (+55.3%) shows fantastic form and leaps to 36.2% share vs. 32.5% so far this year. Daihatsu (+2.8%) is much weaker at #2 above Honda (+70%) and Suzuki (+0.5%). Mitsubishi (-33.6%) is in trouble and stuck in 5th place. Hyundai (+904.3%) continues to show surreal gains thanks to recent launches, with Hino (+61.1%) also beating the market in the remainder of the Top 10. Retail-wise, this time Toyota (+6.5%) is below the market’s average growth as is Daihatsu (+14.9%) but Honda (+89.9%) and Hyundai (+990%) impress.

Over in the models charts, the Honda Brio (+68%) is the best-seller for the third time this year after February and May, and cements its 2nd place in the year-to-date order. #1 a year ago, the Toyota Rush (-5.7%) is down year-on-year but up 9 spots on September to #2. The Toyota Avanza (+814.8%) rounds out the podium as it compensates for a particularly weak year-ago result. The Daihatsu Sigra (+136.1%), Daihatsu Gran Max Pikap (+114.5%) and Toyota Calya (+114.3%) also score stellar results in the remainder of the Top 10. The Wuling Air (#19) is the best-selling recent launch above the Hyundai Stargazer (#20) and Creta (#22).
