Poland September 2022: Skoda Octavia leader, Lexus up to record #12

The Lexus RX is up to a record #13 in Poland this month.

35,194 new cars hit Polish roads in September, a 8% year-on-year gain. The year-to-date volume now stands at 309,704 units, down -9.2% over the same period in 2021. Toyota (-1.5%) remains the most popular carmaker in the country but sees its market share thaw to 15% vs. 17.5% year-to-date. Skoda (+108%) is in outstanding shape, more than doubling its sales year-on-year to 13.7% share vs. 9.7% YTD. Kia (-19.8%) is in difficulty but manages to remain in third place. In fact the Top 5 brands are unchanged on last month and YTD, with Volkswagen (+17.8%) and Hyundai (-24.9%) in tow. Dacia (+56.5%), Audi (+53.2%) and Mercedes (+47.9%) also impress below. Lexus brilliantly lodges its first ever Polish Top 15 finish at #12 with 2.6% of the market.

In the models ranking, the Skoda Octavia (+279.8%) triples its sales year-on-year to topple the traditional leader, the Toyota Corolla (+10.7%). The Octavia climbs to #6 in the year-to-date charts as a result. The Dacia Duster (+120.6%) also posts a fantastic gain in third place, distancing the Toyota Yaris (+44.8%) which now holds the #2 spot YTD as it did over the Full Year 2021. At #5, the Skoda Fabia is the only remaining Top 10 model to outpace the market. In contrast, the Toyota RAV4 (-38.3%) and Kia Sportage (-15.5%) are hit hard. The Renault Clio (+0.3%) climbs back from outside the August Top 50 directly into 9th place but only manages a tiny year-on-year uptick. Champion of the recent launches, the Toyota Yaris Cross is down 3 spots on August to #10. The Lexus RX spectacularly storms into the Polish Top 50 directly at #13, while the Lexus UX ranks at a record #38.
