Poland August 2022: Peugeot (+45.7%), Opel (+41%) shine in market edging up 1.8%

The Peugeot 308 is inside the Top 50 in Poland this month.

The Polish new car market is up a timid 1.8% year-on-year in August to 33,242 registrations, leading to a year-to-date volume off -11% to 274,510. Toyota (+17.5%) vastly outpaces the market to cement its domination at 18.2% share vs. 17.8% so far this year. Skoda (+20.9%) does even better at #2 with 9.9% of the market vs. 9.2% YTD. Kia (-8.2%) is in difficulty at #3 while Volkswagen (+17.3%) is strong at #4. Peugeot (+45.7%), Opel (+41%), Ford (+23.9%), Dacia (+19.6%) and Mercedes (+14.6%) also post stellar gains in the remainder of the Top 15.

Over in the models ranking, strikingly the Top 8 models advance faster than the market, starting with the Toyota Corolla (+65.5%) followed by the Dacia Duster (+36.7%) meaning the two best-sellers are identical to July. The Toyota Yaris (+29%), Kia Sportage (+28.6%) and Skoda Octavia (+21.6%) are in tow with the Hyundai i30 (+3.7%) a lot shyer at #6. The new Toyota Yaris Cross is down two spots on July to #7 and distances the VW T-Roc (+88.7%) sporting the largest gain in the Top 10. In contrast the Hyundai Tucson (-18%) and Toyota RAV4 (-40.7%) are in a rut and close out the Top 10. The Skoda Kamiq (+124.3%) and BMW X5 (+114.6%) shine below.
