Pakistan July 2022: Honda up 10%, Suzuki Alto hits 39% share in market plunging -52.5%

The Suzuki Alto holds 39% of the Pakistani market in July.

According to data by PAMA, Pakistani sales of new locally-produced light vehicles stumble down -52.5% year-on-year in July to just 11,847 units. Note Changan and Kia do not report sales figures to PAMA but are reported to be quite successful in this market. Suzuki (-56%) falls slightly faster than the market but displays a very strong 56.4% share. Honda (+10%) goes completely against the negative environment to overtake Toyota and rank #2 with 21.4% share vs. 14.5% so far this year. For its part Toyota (-64.6%) freefalls to 20% share vs. 25% YTD.

Model-wise, the Suzuki Alto (-24.4%) surges to a mammoth 39% market share, its highest in the country since the record 41.7% it hit in September 2019. The Honda Civic is estimated to rank #2 for the month, followed directly by the Honda City. The Toyota Corolla should follow ahead of the Toyota Yaris. Finally, note the Suzuki Swift (+42.7%) gearing up thanks to the new generation.
