Argentina June 2022: Chevrolet up 50.6%, Toyota Hilux teases Fiat Cronos for #1, sales down -8.7%
The Toyota Hilux ends the month just 65 units below the Fiat Cronos.
The Argentinean new vehicle market is down -8.7% year-on-year in June to 34,906 registrations, meaning the year-to-date tally now edges up 0.3% to 208,876 units. Toyota (+1.2%) remains by far the most popular manufacturer in the country with 20.2% share vs. 19.4% over H1 2022. Volkswagen (-31%) reclaims the 2nd spot it held over the Full Year 2021 despite a giant year-on-year loss. Fiat (-13.3%) however remains #2 year-to-date. Renault (-15.4%) is in bad posture whereas Chevrolet (+50.6%) scores a splendid uptick on a low year-ago base impacted by stock shortages. Only Citroen (-6.3%) manages to beat the market in the remainder of the Top 10.
Over in the models ranking, the Fiat Cronos (-41.4%) enjoys a 21st monthly win in the past 22 but at 5.9% share it is well below the 10.6% it commands over H1. It also implodes year-on-year and sees its lead over the Toyota Hilux (-23.1%) thaw to just 65 units in June. The Chevrolet Cruze (+165.9%) remains in third place, distancing the VW Amarok (-27.4%). The Toyota Yaris (+53.3%) and Renault Sandero/Stepway (+50.3%) secure fantastic scores and close out the Top 6. The Toyota Corolla Cross (+93.2%) signs the largest gain in the Top 10 and stays at #9.
