Uruguay May 2022: Chevrolet (+140.3%) takes control, sales drop -2.7%
Chevrolet holds 18.8% of the Uruguayan market in May.
New light vehicle sales in Uruguay edge down -2.7% year-on-year in May to 4,405 units, bringing the year-to-date tally down -0.7% to 21,115. Chevrolet (+140.3%) spectacularly reclaims the brands top spot with 18.8% share for the month, and is now also #1 year-to-date at 14.1% share (+26.7%). Leader last month, Hyundai (+35%) drops to #2 and 15.7% of the market and ranks #3 YTD with 12.2% share. In fact the entire Top 5 vastly outpace the market, with Renault (+17.5%), Volkswagen (+6.1%) and Toyota (+26.4%) in tow. Reversely Fiat (-62.7%) is down to a paltry 6th place vs. #2 last month and YTD. Nissan (-14.9%) is also not in great shape this month. Below, Chery (+19%), GWM (+100%) and BYD (+47.5%) lead the Chinese charge, all ignoring the market decline. Geely (+77.3%), Karry (+106.3%) and Jetour (+50%) also impress.
