Iceland May 2022: Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross remains dominant, Hyundai Ioniq 5 in Top 10, market up 57.2%

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is #1 in Iceland once again in May.

The Icelandic new car market surges 57.2% year-on-year in May to 2,105 registrations, bringing the year-to-date tally to 6,725 on revised figures only taking into account Passenger Cars. Toyota (+110.6%) continues to lead the brands charts and this time Mitsubishi (+2172.7!) is up one spot on April to #2. Hyundai (+86.9%) is knocked down to #3 while Kia (-24.3%) remains in 4th place despite a steep fall. Dacia (+51.7%) its up 24 ranks on last month to #5, Skoda (+52.9%) is up 7 to #6 and Suzuki (-55.4%) is up 16 to #7 but implodes year-on-year. Land Rover (+119.2%) and Volvo (+88.9%) also beat the market in the remainder of the Top 10. Model-wise, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross continues to be ultra-dominant with 11.5% share, distancing the Toyota RAV4 at 9.9%. The Toyota Prado rounds out the podium at 4.6% of the market above the Hyundai Tucson (making it 4 SUVs in the Top 4), Toyota Yaris and Dacia Duster. The Kia Sportage follows while the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is up eight spots on last month to #8.
